Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the whole café felt really warm and homey, almost like a cozy neighborhood spot The cafe looks really cute and charming with vintage cake molds and whimsical fish! It’s more spacious than the first location, and they offer more items such as hot meals and cakes. My favorites: Pastel de Nata (Custard tart) , Sonhos ( Round sugar donut), Espresso"
"Amazing addition to the Oakwood neighborhood. Super nice coffee, excellent service. Amazing food. A most if you are in the area"
"My husband and I are huge fans of Mercado, so when we found out that they were opening a bakery, we couldn’t have been more excited. The bakery is absolutely adorable—it truly feels like stepping into Portugal. Everything is made fresh, and the quality is outstanding. You can genuinely taste the love and care that goes into every item. We tried several pastries, and honestly, it’s impossible to choose a favorite because they were all incredible. They also offer warm savory dishes if you’re not in the mood for something sweet, along with thoughtfully curated items like gift baskets, canned fish and seafood, and specialty oils. Carlos has become a family friend simply through our visits to his establishments, and we even had the pleasure of meeting his son, the head baker—who was just as kind and welcoming. I truly can’t recommend this bakery enough."
"Smashing IT! Such a cute and cozy gem of a Bakery! This place has it all! From sweet pastries to excellent home-made dishes. The staff that work here are so friendly and engaging, it's almost like you're visiting your favorite Aunts House as opposed to a bakery. The charm and the friendliness is next to none. The pastries and the lattes are absolutely delicious. The energy and the vibe is elastic. This is a great place to grab something to eat any time of the day. Nested along the heart of Oakwood Avenue in between trendy St. Clair Avenue West and hipster Eglinton Avenue West. Bring the family, bring your friends and or just bring yourself. Your taste buds will be glad that you did!"
"Been coming here since they opened last year and just like their location on College st. the pastries and food options are delicious and authentic to Portugal. Recently placed a catering order for their Bolas de Berlim pastries to offer as our event favours and it was a complete hit with our guests. The pastries were fresh, generously filled and the perfect size. Got so many compliments and would highly recommend. The team here is also so friendly and attentive. Will go back time and time again!"
"Cafe belem has good vibes and nice cafe and bakery shop. They sell espesso based drink and portuguese bakery. They have a lot of portuguese bakery selection. I tried Natas Coffee and I loved it. I also bought some of the baked good. On the same cafe, they have another counter specialized in portuguese meal and kitchen called Alma Lusa. Alma Lusa sells portuguese lunch and dinner menu. Their selection is also great. Cafe Belem + Alma Lusa are 2 shops in 1 cafe."
"Wandered into Cafe Belem's Oakwood location since I was in the area and in need of something to eat (and sit down since many places are strictly take out / limited seating). About a dozen tables (which seat 2 to 4 people) Pleasantly surprised at this nice little cafe. Great atmosphere/decor (feels very much like a European cafe). Friendly staff and an array of pastries are on the bakery counter. They have sweet and savory food options I am an almond croissant person and Cafe Belem's was a little more dense ($4.50). A little on the sweeter side than what I'm used to but still tasty. I also got a tea ($3.25) and the tea bag said "Genuine Tea Co.", which is a local tea company. Nice to see them supporting another Canadian business. There are washrooms on site in the basement."
"A great addition to this long overdue neighbourhood and Oakwood Village. Wonderful atomsphere, great staff and the food is varied and good. The bifana is one of the best I've had in the city."
